Rose Once kind, now lost in darkness You could call the she-wolf beautiful and majestic. Her fur was sleek and well groomed. Her eyes, charming amber. Her soft voice that seemed to float through the air on soft cat paws. The wind ruffling her silvery grey and brown fur. The seeming spell of her charm filling you with feelings of love for this beautiful she-wolf. But when something snaps in your mind, that she is not who she seems, it's too late. Her jaws close round your neck and she looks at you, her amber eyes sparking. Her killer gaze that just terrifies her victims. When you see that look in her amber eyes you know death will come soon. But now, this she-wolf was getting a taste of the horror she put onto so many others. She was in the land of dreams and she dreamed that her dead daughter's ghost had come to haunt her. Let's back track a bit. Rose, messenger and spy of the Shadows, mate to Knight, and mother to Silver, Raise, Akita and Neera, and the one that Mort is keen to win the trust of. Rose had a wild authentic beauty to her. Her amber eyes shone in the sun and glowed in the moonlight. Her silvery grey and brown pelt was so finely groomed by the one who loved her, her leader, Mort. Her voice was soft and could seem sweet and gentle, but to madden Rose is close to waking one who has anger issues. Her voice is dark, low, and dangerous when something spikes her anger. When her death had come, Knight was waiting for her. He seemed to looked into her heart and pushed darkness into it. Forever since she came back as a Black Ghost and joined the Shadows. She stayed hidden for years, waiting till her daughter joined the Spirit's Realm. Now in her dream Silver had come to haunt her. Was it real or was it just a dream? The ferns rustled, and Rose knew she was not alone. Her ears twitched, indicating that she was listening hard. She lifted her nose a bit and sniffed, she could smell not a thing. Her amber eyes glare about. Something didn't feel right. She shook herself and went to turn round. Nothing happened. Her paws were rooted to the spot. She spat angrily as she looked up to see the ferns part and was gripped with cold fear when she saw a silvery see-through version of her daughter. Her daughter that had been killed by her other child, Cherook Akita. Her daughter, Silver's, ghost had now come back to haunt her. And Rose was terrified. Dear child! Why do you cause me such horror!? Her voice shook with the fear that her body also shook with. Ghost Silver's eyes were clouded with grief. Her voice was like silk, being stitched together with tears, sadness and sorrow, Why do you cringe, mother? Why do you stand by and shake with fear? Do you not cry for your lost kin? You'd cried for little Akita and dark-heartened Knight. You cared for us once, did you not? For me and Taylen? For Akita and Neera? But you left us and turned to the Shadows. Rose looked at her paws and then a new darkness propelled through her. Her voice was dark and sharp, You are no daughter of mine, girl. You turned your back on me and Knight when you turned toward the Light wolves. You could have been with us, as we conquered not only Lark but every other village on this Earth! I have always feared for you, mother. Silver's ghost shook her head with sadness. You could be with your grand-pups, and have a family around you, but you turned your back on us dear mother. Not us on you. Remember these words that father spoke before he turned to the Shadows, The world is not split in two -Shadows and Light- we all have both Shadow and Light inside us. It's the part we choose to act on that counts. That's who we really are. And then the ghost was gone, just like that. Rose woke with a start and looked round, tears in her eyes. She looked at her paws and sobbed, saying, Silver! Oh Silver! Dear daughter, what have I done!? Silver...Cherook...Taylen...Neera...my children, what have I done....?

Sarge walked through the brush unaware of Rose.

Then her head flew up, her nostrils flaring. There was another wolf here, she was sure of it. Rose growled from deep in her throat, hoping to scare whoever it is away. She wanted to be alone so she could mourn with sadness and look over her jumbled thoughts. But first that other wolf had to go. She stalked through the brush, advancing on the other wolf. She walked along with thoughts whirling, How dare they come into my realm! The realm of my leader, Mort. Oh! How they'd wish they'd never been born when Mort sets his black eyes on them! She gave an excited little shake. Most wolves never ventured out here, but she was pleased to have some action, despite she wanted time alone. Rose picked up her pace so that now she was trotting through the underbrush, her tail dragging soundlessly on the ground. She was so low to the ground that her stomach was nearly touching it. Her paws hardly touched the ground as her sleek body seemed to swim through the limited amount of brush. Soon Rose reached a spot where she could look out and see the invader. She watched him walk through the brush. She growled again and then launched herself at him.

Sarge turned to see Rose barreling towards him, with a flash of his red eyes and a snarl Sarge lunged for Rose's throat.

Rose jumped to the side and a glare was sent toward the other wolf. She said, her voice deadly, You walk alone, I see. You are a loner? She cocked her head in a questioning gesture, But why do you wonder here? You are of the red-eyes are you not? She was confused. She knew that the red-eyes were here, but she wondered why one would travel so far from his leader. She also knew that the red-eyes were strong, but low in numbers. They both wanted the light dead, the red-eyes and the Shadows. She would have to bring her idea of joining with the red-eyes to Mort and the rest of the Shadows. Although she knew that Ebony, that fool cream colored wolf, would object and interject her own idea. Rose and Ebony were enemies since they day they met. Tylent and Mort weren't please, and Rose did all she could to stay out of Ebony's way. But Ebony wanted to fight. Rose would never tell Mort this, but it was Ebony who killed her. And Knight who brought her back. For Mort believed that she drowned and he, and not Knight, brought her back as a Black Ghost. But Rose didn't want to worry about all that at the moment. She turned her attention back to the wolf in front of her. She wondered if he had darkness in him that he was prepared to use. Perhaps he could become on of them, one of the Shadows. In a way she hoped so. He looked strong. He also looked like he wouldn't object to many things, that he would follow the rules, and he looked like a nice swift spy to use against the Light. Her silvery grey tail swept across the ground as she waited for an answer. She wasn't in a hurry so, her head still cocked , she sat. Her amber eyes were locked on him.

Sarge eyed Rose suspiciously Yes I am a loner. His voice became gruff The lasyt time I checked a loner could go wherever they wanted. Besides why do you want to know? Sarge could tell that this wolf was not one he should be friendly to, but if she thought that he was a red-eye then maybe he could get something out of her.

You seem strong, a good weapon to use against the Light. Rose said, her voice soft and tempting. She walked round him. Come with me and I can give you fresh meat, a warm shelter and skills that only I and my leader Mort know. Skills that will be deadly in battle. She really did hope this wolf would accept her offer. She liked him, he was, she thought, somewhat stubborn. But he was useful. He seemed to know what was good for him, and what was not. If he knew that he would accept. Rose also knew that for returning with him Mort would be pleased and she would be a step closer to him. A step closer to having a relationship with him. She said to his words, I do realize that Loners can roam wherever they please, but why here, my friend? Why here in the darkness that seems to cut into your soul? Not waiting for him to answer her words she went on slowly, What is your name, friend? If you were wondering, I'm called Rose.

Sarge listened, if he went with Rose and they did teach him skills that could be deadly in battle he could in turn teach them to the light. Should he not accept this wolf would most definantly kill him, there was no coice he must accept the offer. Hmmm, I will accept your offer on one condidtion. I will be allowed to come and go as I please, I'm am a loner after all. As for why I wandered here I can not tell, for I myself do not know. Sarge shook his fur Seeing as though you asked, my full name is Sargent of the Deserted, but just call me Sarge.

Rose grinned. Then follow me, Sargent of the Deserted. She turned and began to pad swiftly away. Your condition must be brought up to Mort. He will decide if you can come and go. I have no authority to say yes. She quickened her pace. Your training starts now, she looked over her broad shoulder, her pace never faltering, a wicked smile on her face, that is, if you can keep up. She continued on her way, slowing and quickening whenever she pleased. She listened intently for his paw steps, that she hoped where following close behind her.

Rose walked for a long time, she was glad that Sargent stayed paced with her. When she got to the camp she entered and was immediately tackled by another wolf. She snarled and threw him off as though he were a fly. Get of me, you fool, Tylent! She shook her head in disappointment as Tylent slunk off. She walked up to a pure black wolf and dipped her head. Lord of Death, servant of Anubis, Leader of the Shadows, Lord Mort. Mort turned his black eyes to Rose, well it seemed like he was looking at Rose, you couldn't really tell, and said, his voice ghost like, Lady of Darkness, Rose. He touched his nose to hers. How are you, m'lady? I am fairly fine, my lord. said Rose. She indicated to Sargent with a flick of her tail, I'd like you to meet Sargent of the Deserted, my lord. Mort circled round Sargent. He said, He is of the red-eyes? Rose told him what Sargent had told her, that he was a loner. And about his condition and the things that Rose had promised him. I do not want to loose a fine fighter, you may, as you wish, come and go as you please. Lessons are at sunhigh and sundown of every day.

Rose nodded to Mort and walked to Sarge. Come, Sargent of the Deserted, I will show you the territory. Her voice was rough. She had hoped that Ebony or Tylent would have to mentor Sargent, but as Mort hadn't said, she knew it was she, herself. She didn't really like him, even though he was strong. Keep up, she growled as she raced from the camp, not pausing to see if her heard or not.
